The YMCA of Delaware, in partnership with Autism Delaware, will once again hold a statewide Acceptance and Inclusion Tour throughout April, featuring Alex the Autism Delaware Bear. Alex’s month-long trek to all Ys across the state started at the Brandywine YMCA on March 29th and will wrap up on April 30th at the Sussex Family Y.

“The YMCA of Delaware seeks to improve the health and well-being of every individual we serve while demanding equity for all,” said YMCA of Delaware President & CEO Jarrett Royster. “The Acceptance and Inclusion Tour is a great way to unite our diverse community while highlighting our uniqueness and celebrating what binds us together. The YMCA is welcoming for all.”

The tour, now in its third year, focuses on welcoming those with autism into every aspect of our community – from sports and recreation to summer camp and the arts.

“With April being Autism Acceptance and Inclusion Month in Delaware, it is a wonderful time to shine a light on services like ours,” said Dan Getman, Director of Development at Autism Delaware. “We at Autism Delaware can’t raise awareness in the community alone, though. It takes partnerships like this one with the YMCA to reach more families who might benefit from working with us. We encourage everyone in Delaware to join Autism Delaware and the YMCA in our efforts to make our state a more inclusive place for those on the spectrum.”

The Acceptance and Inclusion tour will make stops at YMCA of Delaware branches on the following dates:

• March 29th: Brandywine YMCA – 3 Mount Lebanon Road Wilmington, DE 19803
