In the second matchup this season of non-conference teams Caravel and Cape Henlopen Caravel stayed red hot at the plate

In the first matchup between these two teams the game went 6 scoreless innings before Caravel plated 5 runs to win 5-0.

The Caravel bats came alive in the 2nd inning but they left the bases loaded when a ground ball hit the runner for the 3rd out. Caravel began plating runs in the 3rd inning and never looked back.

The Bucs put up 12 hits, 6 runs, walked once and only struck out 3 times. Haley Grygo went 2 for 4, scoring 2 runs, 1 double, and 1 RBI, Zayda Rocke launched a solo homerun and Paige Richardson went 2 for 4, scored a run and had 2 RBI’s.

Kasey Xenidis was stellar in the circle for the Bucs, only giving up 1 hit which didn’t come until the 5th inning when Ava Calciano roped a double to center field. Kasey walked 3, struck out 6 and gave up 2 runs.

Xenidis gave way to eighth grader Kaley Arrowsmith. She pitched 2 innings in relief facing 11 batters, striking out 4, giving up 5 hits, and allowing 1 run.

Cape combined for 6 hits and Jay’Lyn Slater walked twice. Alivia Longo, Slater’s courtesy runner, scored in the 4th, Kenna Justice scored in the 6th after being walked, and Eden Frederick scored in the bottom of the 7th as Cape tried to mount a comeback, only to fall short, leaving 2 runners on base.
