The Wilmington riverfront fireworks have been moved to Sunday, Jan. 1, because of predicted bad weather.

The show, sponsored by the Riverfront Development Corp., is expected to take place shortly after 9 p.m. over the Christina River.

It can be seen from most parts of the Riverwalk, with the best viewing between the public dock and the Riverfront Market.

The show is the considered the culmination of this year’sĀ  Riverbright Wilmington Light Display, which put up two miles of walkable lights stretching from Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park to the DuPont Environmental Education Center.

Guests are encouraged to tour the Riverwalk lights and displays, and then stay for the fireworks display.

While seasonal displays will be taken down after the holidays, many of the lights will stay up year-round.
