A ripped-off roof that opened the Acme on Kirkwood Highway to the sky was among the damage caused by a tornado that hit the Sherwood Park area Thursday night as the remnants of Hurricane Debby moved Delaware.
The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado near Marshallton about 7:12 p.m. and warned Friday morning that more were possible during the day as were strong winds and flooding.
The service said Thursday night that there is the potential for strong winds as a remnant rain band from Debby passes across our area. Wind gusts near 35 to 55 miles per hour are possible, which could down trees and lead to some power outages.
Conditions will improve Friday night and a tranquil weekend is expected, the weather service said.
Portions of New Castle County Delaware and Chester County Pennsylvania which had flash flooding Thursday evening may find that water will take time to recede.
If you experience or see damage, the weather service would like to have photos of it if possible. Here’s how to send them.
