As the holiday season gets into full swing, Delaware offers plenty of ways to get out and celebrate this weekend. Whether you want live performance, family crafts, or uplifting music, there are several options that bring seasonal cheer without a long drive or a full day commitment.

See The Nutcracker Ballet In Wilmington

The Wilmington Ballet presents its annual production of The Nutcracker from Friday, December 12 through Sunday, December 14 at The Playhouse on Rodney Square. The weekend includes an evening show on Friday and a mix of matinee and evening performances on Saturday and Sunday. This long-running

production features professional guest artists performing alongside local dancers, accompanied by musicians who bring Tchaikovsky’s score to life. Families return year after year to see Clara, the Nutcracker, and the Sugar Plum Fairy onstage, making it one of Wilmington’s most loved holiday traditions.

Cookies and Crafts At Brandywine Creek State Park

Families looking for a hands-on holiday activity can head to Brandywine Creek State Park on Saturday, December 13 for Cookies and Crafts from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Children can rotate through craft stations to create ornaments, birdfeeders, and glowing luminaries, then enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. The program takes place at the park’s nature center and includes indoor activities with the option to explore the surrounding trails. There is a small fee per child and advance registration is required. Warm clothing is recommended for families who plan to spend time outdoors before or after the event.

Holiday Concert With Wilmington Children’s Chorus

Wilmington Children’s Chorus presents Amid the Cold of Winter at First and Central Presbyterian Church this weekend. Performances take place on Friday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 p.m. The program includes seasonal selections ranging from traditional carols to contemporary pieces that reflect the spirit and beauty of winter. The concert offers an accessible way for families and music lovers to enjoy live vocals in a historic downtown setting. Tickets are modestly priced, and seating tends to fill quickly for this annual event.
