Several events in Delaware this Memorial Day weekend honor those who lost their lives in the service of their nation.
154th Wilmington Memorial Day parade and observance 6 p.m. Sunday, Wilmington. The parade starts at Delaware and Woodlawn avenues and proceeds down Delaware Avenue to the Soldiers and Sailors monument, on Broom Street.
“Committee members will gather within social distancing guidelines to lay a wreath and say a few words in honor of all those who have defended this country,” the group said.
“We encourage all who can to visit cemeteries and gravesites in Wilmington to decorate them in the spirit of the original Memorial Day, which was then called Decoration Day.”

Memorial Day in Revolutionary Dover walking tour, 10 a.m, noon and 2 p.m. Monday, Dover. First State Heritage Park is piloting a free 40-minute walking tour “exploring the experiences and contributions of Dover’s citizens during the War for Independence.” Reservations are required by calling 302-739-9194 or emailing [email protected].
