Recycle Holiday Trees in the New Year at Delaware Center for Horticulture’s TreeCycle Event Jan. 4

Staff WriterCulture, RSS-Culture

DNREC is again sponsoring the Delaware Center for Horticulture’s TreeCycle event that aims to make beneficial reuse of holiday trees by turning them into wood chips and mulch while also keeping the trees out of the state’s landfills. TreeCycle is a family-friendly recycling event to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4. DNREC continues encouraging Delawareans to dispose of their trees in such way that pays dividends to the environment, by having the trees mulched or chipped – or in a US Fish and Wildlife Service salt marsh restoration project, dropped off at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge near Smyrna where they will be placed so as to capture sediment that will help reinforce the refuge’s wildlife drive against wave action.
