MOT Senior softball All-Stars defeated New Castle/Suburban Senior All-Stars to capture the 2024 Senior softball state championship. The two teams faced off in a three game series, but MOT only needed two to advance to the Senior Softball Eastern Regional.
After a 9-6 win on Thursday night MOT bats were hot again on Friday. After being tied 2-2 MOT broke the game open with a four run fourth inning, then tacked on two more runs in the fifth to put the game away.
MOT scored eight runs on eight hits as a team. Four of those hits were doubles by Mackenzie Landry, Myranda Talmadge, Lucy Ponden, and Bridget Archer. Landry led the team with three hits.
On the mound Talmadge got the win. She threw a complete game allowing six hits, three runs while two of them were earned. She walked five batters while striking out eleven.
Kimora Washington led New Castle/Suburban going 1-2 with a homerun and 2 runs batted in.
Now that MOT has been crowned state champs they will advance to the Senior League Softball World Series eastern regional. The regional will be played in Worcester Massachusetts with dates set as July 20th-24th and fields and times TBD. Best of luck to the MOT Senior All-Stars as they get set to compete for the eastern regional.
