Inside The Circle – Top 10 Week 7

As we turn the page on the calendar from April to May, there are just a handful of games left in the regular season. This week we have some shuffling at the top of the rankings as our feature “game-of-the-week” produced an instant classic with Caravel coming from behind to deal Delmarva Christian its first loss of the season. The Royals lost a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th inning as an “infield fly” fell between three players – plating the tying runs. Caravel trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th when Brooke Holdsworth smashed a game-tying home run to center, sending the game into extra innings. The first two batters reached base for the Bucs in the 8th inning with one out when Veronica Diomede singled down the right field line to bring in the winning run for a final of 5-4.

302 Sports was scheduled to broadcast a game Saturday the 29th with Archmere at Cape Henlopen but wet field conditions led to a postponement. 

Some highlights from last week’s action include the upset by Lake Forest over Sussex Central 4-2 and Cape Henlopen’s 8-7 win against Smyrna.

1 – Caravel (7-1)  Faces DMA-Appo-Delmarva Christian this week

2 – Delmarva Christian (10-1) plays Caravel May 6th

3 – Appo (9-1) at #1 Caravel Thursday.

4 – St Marks  (9-1) Plays Padua Monday

5 – Sussex Central (10-2) Faces St Marks & Smyrna this week

6 – Milford  (10-1) Has Cape & RLCA this week

7 – Laurel  (12-2) 8 straight wins. Meets Lake & IR this week

8 – Indian River (9-3) 5 straight wins. Faces Laurel Thursday

9- Lake Forest (8-4). Win vs Sussex Central & loss to Woodbridge. Vs Laurel Tuesday 

10- Cape (7-4) Wins vs Padua & Smyrna last week. 

Others receiving consideration are Middletown (7-3), Padua (6-3), DMA (6-3).

Plenty of good matchups this week including St Marks and Padua on Monday, Laurel and Lake on Tuesday, Laurel vs IR Thursday along with Appo at Caravel Thursday night. Saturday May 6th is the rematch with Caravel and Delmarva Christian in Georgetown.
