Indian River has placed several staff on administrative leave.

Multiple staff members of the Indian River School District have been placed on administrative leave, and the district is keeping the reasons why under wraps – for now.

There were rumors that one of the administrators was escorted out of school by police this week, but those claims are false.

No, we did not escort him or anyone else out of the building,” said Leonard DeMalto, public information officer for the Delaware State Police

The limited details the district provided came from a short statement from spokesperson Jennifer Troublefield.

“Members of the Sussex Central High School staff were placed on administrative leave by the Indian River School District on Monday,” the statement said. “This is an ongoing investigation, and state and federal laws protecting the privacy rights of employees prevent the district from commenting further at this time.”

DeMalto said there is no ongoing investigation at this time by the Delaware State Police, and law enforcement has no additional information.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
