Innovation, opportunity, and sports go hand in hand. Athletic facilities and the millions of dollars spent on them each year are, actually, about more than just sports. They are a point of pride for the communities they serve and provide the building blocks for important life skills. That is what Factory Sports is all about. The success of the first location in Lewes has led Pat Woods and his partners Adrian Mobilia, Ryan Reed, and Aaron Wyatt to build a second location in Frankford, DE. Reed was the Gatorade Player of the Year when he was at Cape Henlopen and Wyatt is a basketball legend from Wicomico County (MD). This new facility will allow their reach to get a little further into the corners of Sussex County and beyond. I had the privilege to see the new location and talk to Pat Woods about Factory Sports.

Pat Woods has a long personal history with sports that has impacted his life in such a way that makes him want to give back to his community. He played sports (soccer, basketball, and baseball)  as a youth and into high school. He played collegiate basketball at Wesley College, has a sports management degree, and ran the YMCA in Rehoboth for four years. He currently coaches the girls varsity basketball team at Cape Henlopen High School.

Factory Sports has been a sports training facility for the past ten years. They specialize in offering skill training and sports for ages 6 and up, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, batting cages and turf sports (field hockey, lacrosse, football, etc). There are sports camps and clinics, recreational leagues, and training of the mind and body for any age athlete. Young or old, novice or experienced, all are welcome.

The new location off Route 113 in Frankford is 22,000 square feet and will enable Factory Sports to cover the whole county, provide athletic opportunities to the youth in the area and teach them life through sports. That is Woods’ philosophy. He prides himself on recruiting the best coaches who are not only knowledgeable about their sports, but are good people whose hearts are in the right place.

The benefits of having access to these facilities for athletes is a well rounded approach to training. Pat Woods talks to coaches of all levels and finds out what they feel student-athletes will need to be successful when they step on a middle school, high school, travel ball, or college court/field. He builds his training from there. He feels what sets Factory Sports apart from other facilities and/or programs is consistency. They offer quality coaching (in rec leagues, camps, and individual sessions) in multiple sports, they train the skills, the mind and the body, they have a controlled environment, and bring in the best people they can who simply care about kids. They can literally train an athlete from age 6 in rec ball and camps, to middle school, high school, college, and into a pro career.

Factory Sports, Frankford, welcomes Dominic Flora and Competitive Sports Performance (CSP) for strength, conditioning and speed training. Frank and Luka Garza for Inner Game Mental Skills Training, Nicole Tingle will manage and lead the summer camps, after school program, and pickleball, while Alyssa Weaver will lead volleyball skills training. Dom Scott will lead field hockey, Franc Cook of Shorebreak Lacrosse handle boys lacrosse and Emily Ewin of Coastal Lacrosse will handle girls lacrosse.
