Our Community Salutes, Delaware
May 17, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Our Community Salutes is an annual event to recognize and ‘thank’ those High School Seniors who have chosen to join one of the military services after graduation. See www.ocsde.org for highlights of past events. We cancelled our 2020 event and we conducted a virtual event in 2021.
We work with military recruiters to identify those Delaware seniors that have committed to enlist, and we send them an invitation to attend with two guests. As they arrive, they enter a reception area with light refreshments, and representatives from the Red Cross, the USO, the V.A. and Military OneSource are on hand to explain their services. Sponsors may have a table to show their products or services. Attendees then move into the dining area for dinner and sit with members of the civilian and military community. After dinner, the program begins with a welcome, an invocation, then presentation of the colors by the Mount Pleasant High School Junior ROTC Color Guard. Guest speakers include Governor Carney, the Adjutant General of Delaware, Major General Mike Berry, Major General (Retired) Brad Spacy, United States Air Force, and Chief Master Sergeant Brion P. Blais, Command Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Force. Each student attendee will receive a Letter of Appreciation signed by Senators Carper and Coons, and Rep. Blunt-Rochester, and a similar letter signed by the Chairmen of the State House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees. Attendees register via Major General (Retired) Brad Spacy, United States Air Force
Chief Master Sergeant Brion P. Blais, Command Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Force. They register on the following webpage: https://community.ocsusa.org/delaware/. This year’s event will be in person at the University of Delaware’s Clayton Hall on May 17, 2022, 6:30-8:30pm.
This event is not open to the public, and is free to the student attendees and their guests
