The Annual #rideforpie bicycle ride returns for its 37th year in September
Routes begin and end on Legislative Mall, 411 Legislative Ave., Dover, DE and are 16, 25, 50, 62 or 100 miles through peaceful, flat(!), low-traffic Amish countryside.
This is a ride, not a race and roads are not closed to traffic. To promote safety at the start and to ensure that rest stops are not overwhelmed, with everyone finishing when the food and entertainment will be starting, a staggered start is planned.
Up to 5 rest stops are included: Harvest Ridge Winery (MaryDel), Painted Stave Distillery (Smyrna), Felton Little League and Emanuel AME Church(Hartly), depending on distance, but all routes stop at the Amish Schoolhouse (Dover), where you’ll enjoy our famous, fresh, locally-baked pie!
Following the bike tour, there will be an opportunity to purchase photos of your ride from Finisher Pix, finisher awards, additional food options, deejay, live music with The Glass Onion Band, from 11 am- 3pm, and a variety of vendors. Lunch is included with your ride from one of our food trucks. Adult beverages will be available courtesy of NKS Distributors and bottle sales through Harvest Ridge Winery with the purchase of adult beverage/bottle tickets. All the fun will be held on Legislative Mall (411 Legislative Ave) in historic downtown Dover, Delaware.
For those participants who are local, or who may want to spend the weekend in Dover, we are planning on having several “club rides” on Sunday for no additional cost. Participants can register when tickets are purchased or they can register later. These rides will be led by a local ride leader and will be a more casual way to see additional places in Delaware and meet area cyclists.
The greater Dover area offers a number of accommodation and dining options. Delaware isn’t very big, but that doesn’t mean you will want to stay too far outside of the Dover area. Kent County Tourism has compiled a wonderful searchable resource for visitors available on their website. If you limit your search to Dover, you’ll be in the right area to get to the start point by 7 am. While you can start at any time, we do recommend an earlier start for any of the longer rides to ensure that rest stops and SAG support are available. The event will close at 5 pm.
