Two nursing students from the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare have been awarded the 2024 Dr. Carl G. Pierce, Jr. Scholarship.
Kasey McNatt, a senior from Middletown, and Hannah Rossi, a senior from Bear, have been named recipients of this award based on their exceptional academic performance in Maternal, Child, and Family Health Nursing, and for their caring and professional attitudes and interest in pediatrics.
This scholarship was initiated by Mrs. Pierce and her children in memory of her husband and their father. Dr. Carl G. Pierce, Jr. was a physician at Beebe from 1951 until he retired in 1987. He had a long-standing association with the School of Nursing, where he served as a school physician and taught student nurses about children. The scholarship awards are presented by Dr. Pierceās son, Carl Pierce, and daughter, Meredith Cox.
The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021, is accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and is a designated Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN). The Diploma in Professional Nursing is awarded at the completion of the curriculum, qualifying graduates to be eligible for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX examination, leading to licensure as a registered nurse. Beebe graduates consistently have the highest NCLEX pass rates in the state.
