Delaware’s Giving Day “Do More 24” — a way to give nonprofits a financial boost — beat last year’s total of $390,691 in three hours.
By midnight, $500,000 had been given and by 7 a.m. Friday, more than 6,000 people had donated to a cause they cared about.
More than 400 organizations are participating in this year’s Do More 24 Delaware event.
By 6 p.m. Friday, the website said that $1,944,727 had been raised, more than five times the amount raised last year.
Last year’s event included 276 participating nonprofits. About 41% of last year’s donors said they were first-time donors.
