Denise Greene, senior medical assistant at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, has received the ChristianaCare ROSE Award. ROSE stands for Raising Our Standard of Excellence, recognizing outstanding partners in nursing who help deliver dedicated, compassionate care to patients and families.

Greene was nominated by a colleague who recognized her for the kindness she displayed in her interactions with her father during appointments.

“My dad sees a lot of specialty physicians and we meet many medical assistants, but Denise, the medical assistant at his oncologist’s office, is memorable,” said her nominator. “She approached a teachable moment with my dad with humor and kindness. She also noticed a few discrepancies on his medication list and corrected them immediately.”

Her nominator called Denise “an asset to the organization.”

The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects ROSE Award recipients using an anonymous process based on nominations from patients, families and ChristianaCare caregivers.

Nursing partners in caregiving — behavioral health specialists, clerks, home health aides, homemakers, medical assistants, monitor technicians, office assistants, patient care technicians, perioperative care technicians, procedural area technologists and surgical technologists — are eligible.
