DelVets set to play in American Legion World Series

DelVets advanced to the American Legion World series after winning the Mid Atlantic Regional in true comeback fashion. They are one of two teams that reached this year’s World Series after losing their regional opener.Ā 

 

DelVets lost their opening game in the Mid Atlantic Regional held at Joe Cannon Stadium in Ridge Maryland. They lost their opening game to Fort Cumberland (Md.) by a 3-0 score. But they got their revenge in the Semi Finals after fighting their way through the losers bracket.Ā 

 

They played 18 nail-biting innings on Sunday August 11th defeating Fort Cumberland (Md.) 7-6 in 11 innings, then edged Northeastern (Pa.) 3-2 in the championship game to punch their ticket to the World Series.Ā 

 

DelVets is the first team from Delaware to advance to the American Legion World Series since Post 1 won it back in 2018. They are set to play on the opening day of the tournament that starts this Thursday August 15th at 7:30pm. The World series is held in Shelby, NC at Keeter Stadium.Ā
