In 1921, Wilmington’s Washington Street Memorial Bridge finished construction. Once considered the longest bridge of its kind in the country, it opened as the grandiose entrance to Wilmington. The bridge was to stand as a reminder of the Veterans who lost their lives in service to our country. However, it has taken its toll. A group of veterans has organized to restore the bridge and tell its story.
