Savannah Laird recorded 9 strikeouts and allowed just one hit as Appoquinimink defeated Archmere 14-0 in 6 innings Wednesday afternoon. 

Lead off batter, Alexia Fitzgerald had 3 hits in 4 plate appearances, scored 3 runs and knocked in 2 more as the Jaguars improved to 3-0 on the season. Julia Weglarz, Hailey Watlington, Lilly Papellas and Sky Eleazar all had multiple hits as part of a 13-hit team performance.

The lone hit for Archmere came from right fielder, Ruby Merenda in the 3rd inning. The Auks fell to 1-2 and will face First State Military Academy Thursday at Big Oak Park in Smyrna in a Diamond State Athletic Conference game.

The Jags will meet DMA Saturday at Midway for a scheduled 1st pitch at noon.

In other action, Caesar Rodney won 10-3 over Polytech as Peyton Shields recorded 12 strikeouts for the Riders, and Red Lion improved to 3-0 in a 16-2 victory over St. Elizabeth’s. The Lions banged out 18 hits and Alayna Griffing had a home run. Kimorah Neal (8th grade) allowed just 2 hits for the win in the circle.
