Delaware is now seeing an average of 608 new COVID-29 cases per day and the number of those hospitalized rose by more than 100 in the last week.

The State Division of Public Health said that as of Thursday, 38,398 Delawareans have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The rolling average of new cases continues to rise, and this week included the largest one-day number of people who tested positive with 754 did on Thursday. That’s believed to be a byproduct of Thanksgiving gatherings and travel.

The seven-day average for the percentage of persons who tested positive for COVID-19 increased to 20.7 percent from 13.7% a week earlier, the state said. Also, as of Tuesday, the seven-day average for the percentage of total tests that were positive was 8.2%, up from 6.1% on Nov. 24.

In addition, 288 individuals are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, up 101 from last week. Of those, 37 are critical, up six from last week.

A total of 782 Delawareans have died because of COVID-19.
