Collections of hazardous waste, shredding near you

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority is making it easier to safely dispose of hazardous waste and unwanted electronics at two events this month.

The events – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at Long Neck Elementary in Millsboro – also include free shredding of up to two boxes of confidential documents.

The authority is planning an identical event Nov. 14 at its Newark Recycling Center, 470 Corporate Blvd.

The authority regularly offers these services at its recycling centers in Newark and New Castle, its Cheswold collection station and its Jones Crossroads landfill.

The document shredding is monthly. Disposal of household hazardous waste is weekly. Electronics recycling is available whenever the facilities are open. The facilities also collect latex paint once a month.
