The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club will be celebrating National Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, June 4 from 11 am to 3 pm. The event will be held at the Milford Club, located at 101 Delaware Veterans Boulevard off Airport Road in Milford as it underscores the connection to natural resources through play and creative activities. This will be the forth year that the Milford Club hosts the event as the organization expect hundreds of families to attend.
“Kids Fest is a fantastic event for the families in this community. It is a chance for them to come out for a day of fun activities, games and rides, music and food, all while supporting a fantastic community organization which is The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club of Milford,” said event organizer Ashley Reynolds and owner of Make My Day Event Planning & More.“Families get to spend time with one another for the day and they have the chance to interact with other children and families in the community.”
Live entertainment on the main stage will include local bands 3C North and Lincoln City. Throughout the day there will be plenty of action in the form of moon bounces, rides, games and crafts to engage minds and bodies in a healthy outdoor experience. One lucky girl and one lucky boy will win the raffle for a bike giveaway, donated by Walmart, and kids of all sizes can enjoy the new Touch-a-Truck section where a helicopter, DELDOT trucks, an 18-wheeler and several first responder vehicles will be open for exploration.
“The families get a chance to spend time with one another and learn more about local organizations, sports and activities, and businesses that are in the surrounding community that might ultimately be helpful for their family,” said Reynolds. “Our ultimate goal is to create awareness and raise funds to support the Boys & Girls Club of Milford and all that they offer the children in the community, but it is also extremely important to us for families to come out and have a great day of family fun that they will always remember.” Continuing to grow each year, Kids Fest enjoys support from many local businesses including the presenting sponsors Bayhealth Medical Center, Richard Y. Johnson & Son, Inc., Walmart, Coastal Tents & Events and Make My Day Event Planning & More.
One of two large annual fundraising events for the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, Kids Fest will generate annual operating support from individuals and businesses that will enable Club staff to continue to provide quality program services to over 200 area youth on a daily basis. Programs at the Club are geared toward helping kids develop into productive, responsible and caring citizens. Funds raised by the specific event will be matched 100% by the Delaware Boys & Girls Club organization.
Celebrating seven years in their new location this past January, the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club has increased its efforts to establish the Milford Club as a community center in the Greater Milford Area. In addition to serving school-aged children, the Club has recently expanded its facility and services to include a full size fitness center, adult basketball and pickleball leagues and water aerobic classes. The Richard Y. Johnson Aquatic Center is also home to the Milford High School Buccaneers Swim Team, the Club’s own Milford Marlins Swim Team and is the only Boys & Girls Club in Delaware to offer swimming scholarships through the Michael Phelps Foundation. These community services are made available to Greater Milford Area residents year-round through support from fundraising events including Kids Fest.
Kids Fest at the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, 101 Veterans Boulevard just off Airport Road in Milford, will be held from 11 am to 3 pm.
