Putting on the Ritz in Milford

Despite the rain, the second annual Roaring 20’s Party, hosted by the Milford Preservation Society and the Milford Museum was a success. Although the location this year was held at the Century Club on Church Street due to weather, the wet, cold day did not dampen the spirits of event goers as flappers and gangstars partied well into the night for two good causes.

The Milford Historical Preservation Committee, a division of Downtown Milford Inc., is focused on preserving, conserving and protecting buildings, objects, landscapes and artifacts of historical significance. The group is raising funds in order to establish a grant program that will enable owners of historic buildings in Milford to perform necessary repairs and maintenance to their buildings. The Milford Museum was established in 1983 in the original Post Office across from Milford City Hall. The museum contains exhibitions that display Milford’s history form the 1700s to the present. Currently, one of the exhibits in the museum is “Dry Spell: The Prohibition Experience in Milford.”
