Re/Max Helps Those In Need

This holiday season realtors at Re/Max Twin Counties in Milford reached out to local businesses in an effort to create a larger partnership to help local families in need. Collecting non-perishable foods, new or gently used clothing and funds to help with heating costs, Donna Watson and her team raised over $4,000 for those in need this winter.

Last year, the agents at Re/Max Twin Counties partnered with the Food Bank of Delaware by collecting non-perishable foods during their annual Open House. Collecting over 700 lbs of food for donation, the company also received winter clothing that was given to help keep families warm. With temperatures reaching record lows last year, the business decided it was time to increase their efforts by creating the Heat for the Holiday program. This program, partnering with the Avenue United Methodist Perish Fund, will help families that cannot afford to heat their home during winter months. Re/Max is asking other local businesses to join their effort by donating to the Heat for the Holiday program.

Realtor Megan Mullins said she was pleased to see several local businesses reach out to Re/Max Twin Counties in an effort that exponentially grew in just three weeks time. “We had people calling us, they were willing to help and it was heartwarming to see so many people wanting to get involved.”

Re/Max Twin Counties, located at 115 North Washington Street, is still accepting donations for their Bring Hope Home on the Holidays campaign and the Heat for the Holidays program. Participants can drop non-perishable foods, new and gently used winter clothing and monetary donations.

Realtor Jamie Watson stated that the experience was rewarding as the company will be able to help those in need with more than food and clothing this year as the assistance given to help with heating costs is a welcomed need. “The money will go to Avenue Church and will go to families that need help affording fuel this time of year, whether that is oil, gas or electric,” said Watson. “It’s great to be a part of this program and it puts a smile on your face.
