Troopers Investigate Crash Near Prime Hook Beach

2Troopers are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred earlier this afternoon west of Prime Hook Beach.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. as Michael L. Indellini, 56 of Townsend, was operating a 1995 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound on Cods Road just north of Prime Hook Road. The pickup exited the east side of the road and continued northbound along the grass edge of road before ultimately striking a utility pole with the front of the vehicle. The impact caused the pole to snap in half while the truck continued north approximately 13′ before coming to rest against the damaged pole.

There was no obvious trauma or injury to Michael Indellini as a result of the collision and preliminary investigation suggests a sudden-onset medical condition. Mr. Indellini was properly restrained in the vehicle and alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be a factor in this collision. He was turned over the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and Cods Road between Prime Hook Road and 13 Curves Road was closed for approximately three and a half hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
