Hometown Diner Hosts Ribbon Cutting

3Staff Report

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford, Co-Owner Ali Cicek, Managers Julie Serio & Omar Kilic, Milford Mayor Bryan Shupe, CCGM President Angela Dorey, CCGM Executive Treasurer Christine Rust, friends and family recently celebrated a Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration for Hometown Diner in Milford located at 611 N. DuPont Hwy. Formerly hosting the Chinatown Buffet & Grill, the building is located next to Tractor Supply Company off Milford-Harrington Highway. Opening their doors to the public on Tuesday, July 1, owners Ahmet Kumas and Ali Cicak are excited to be opening their second diner in Delaware.

Former owners of the Long Neck Diner, Kumas and Cicak recently sold their business in Millsboro, DE and were in the market to find a city in Delaware that was less dependent on the summer season for survival. Introduced to the town of Milford by a realtor, the two decided to bring their operation north where they plan to have consistent business twelve months out of the year. The owners brought their homemade recipes, customer service and even management with them as they opened the Hometown Diner. General Manager Julie Serrio is excited about the opening and states that the Milford public has not disappointed their expectations for a quick start.

“We are a diner with all homemade food but with a restaurant feel, you can have a nice, relaxed family meal for a low price,” commented Serrio. “We have been steady and busy every day.”

Hometown Dinner has a menu that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner including traditional diner food as well as steak and seafood entrees. On the weekends the restaurant will also feature a breakfast buffet. With seating for over 500 individuals, Serrio states that they are welcoming large parties and business events as they have opened a private dining room that seats over 100 people.

“Our first weekend we had people waiting in line to be seated for our breakfast buffet,” stated Serrio. “We want to provide a service for our customers that they can afford and enjoy in a family atmosphere.”

Owner and Chef of Hometown Diner Ali Cicak, has over 20 years of experience in the kitchen. Immigrating to the United States from Turkey in 1999, he worked his way from washing dishes to head Chef. Creating homemade soups each morning, Cicak says he specializes in making breakfast entrees. When he saw the location in Milford he was excited to begin creating his second diner in Delaware.

“When I saw the location I thought, we can make a diner here and make it even better than the one in Long Neck,” commented Cicak.

Hometown Diner is open Monday through Friday from 6am to 10pm. For more information on the menu, individuals can call the restaurant at 302-424-1100 or visit them on Facebook by searching Hometown Diner.
